30 Day Music Challenge: Day 10

A song that makes you sad.

From the first time I heard this song, I decided that it fell into a category of music called “Music to commit suicide by.” Seriously, this is some dour stuff. “Mad World” by Gary Jules.

30 Day Music Challenge: Day 9

A song that makes you happy.

There are a lot of songs that do this. Like the first song on your road trip playlist, it’s the one that gets you all amped up, maybe doing a little chair dancing. So what one to pick? Its summer, so it should be a summer song. I’m a few days from a week off, so it should be about relaxation.
I’m going to put on my Hawaiian shirt and go to my happy place.

…With sunshine and ladies and pina colodas And Bob Marley songs that are playing…There’s a sound in my ear that I want you to hear, Soft tropical lips that are saying…

A song that makes you want to dance.

Sadly, there aren’t many songs that make this suburban white kid want to dance. It’s just not a thing for me. Then, of course, there’s the definition of “dance.” Are we talking mosh pit, slam dancing or more along the lines of this masterpiece?
So. What’s my pick?

30 Day Music Challenge: Day 5

A song that needs to be played loud.

I’ve spent a bunch of time thinking about this. There are so many. “Jump In the Fire” by Metallica comes to mind. Okay, just about anything by Metallica – the new stuff is just raging. WASP. But I keep coming back to Motorhead. Motorhead is the epitome to me of what LOUD music should be. The only real question is WHICH Motorhead tune to name. “Orgasmatron,” “Ace of Spades,” “Killed by Death,” “The Chase is Better than the Catch…”

I’m sure I could name 15 more.
But there can be only one.

30 Day Music Challenge: Day 4

30 Day Music Challenge: Day 4

A song that reminds you of someone you’d rather forget about

You know, I just don’t have many people in my life or had previously in my life that I’d rather forget about. All interactions, mistakes, victories are learning opportunities. Every. Single. One. I can think of some things, some people that are better left in the past, but honestly, I generally think these things shouldn’t be “forgotten” per se. So this one was difficult.

Were the challenge SOMETHING I’d like to forget, I’d have put Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin’” here, as he was the half time entertainment for the Patriots/Giants Superbowl with the “Helmet Catch”…you know what I’m talking about. No bueno.

But it’s not SOMETHING. It’s someone…and “Someone” is not specified as a “non-fiction someone.”
Here it is, a song that reminds me of someone I’d rather forget.
