My "hometown" New England Revolution have officially become the Minnesota Vikings of American soccer. The Houston Dynamo took over the second half of the Championship game today in Washington, scoring two goals and winning their second consecutive MLS Cup... The Minnesota Vikings are four time Super Bowl losers - Super Bowl VI in 1970 they lost to the Baltimore Colts; Super Bowl VIII was won by the Dolphins; Super Bowl IX, the Steelers did them in; and in Super Bowl XI, the Raiders....

Weekend Round Up

The weekend has been something to behold for sure. I got one of my Friday picks right - St. Louis over New Orleans. By far, THAT was the least probable of the picks. I ALMOST got the Browns over Pittsburgh, but when you're picking winners without explaining why, you can't go to "Almost won." It was a KERAZY day in the NFL for sure. You know, it's infrequent when a team actually bounces back the next week after losing to the Patriots - this week's casualty, the Colts. The Cowboys...

The Revolution have lost the MLS Cup final at Pizza Hut Park twice in their two visits to the finals at the soccer only stadium. While the team has represented the MLS Eastern Conference in the MLS Cup three times and second time at the US Open final, this was the first championship ever for the "Revs." They had failed in the three MLS...

Soccer & Baseball: A Suggestion and a Rant...

...all in one post! One stop shopping today folks. Before I get to the All Star Game, I'd like to discuss something related to the game. The day before and the day after the All Star Game are the only two days on the calendar in which there are no professional sports played. I'm curious as to why. Cue Suggestion on 3...2...1... Given the increase in professional sports in the US - from a whole host of women's professional sports, to Major League Lacrosse, to Major League Soccer - it's...

US Soccer Wrap

“The ruling passion, be it what it will. The ruling passion conquers reason still.” Alexander Pope Part of the excitement of spring is looking forward to the next season...in this case, for me, it's the soccer season. So, tonight, I'm looking at the US Soccer landscape. The Women’s Soccer initiative is planning to launch a new women’s soccer league in the United States, and it was announced today the founders of six teams have agreed to join. Major League Soccer...
